In the spring of 2011, Priit Kask, Lena Müller, and Diego Marín — all three recently departed from Estonian carrier Elisa's backbone engineering group — registered a small OÜ (private limited company) at Punane tänav 6 in Tallinn's Lasnamäe district. Their stated objective was deliberately small: build a public torrent index that scanned every entry for malware before it was published, refreshed seed counts on a human-timed cadence, and never sold a single ad impression.

Thirteen years later, that premise has not changed. The company has grown from three co-founders to a fourteen-person staff — six indexers, four security engineers, two sysadmins, and two community moderators — but it has never taken outside investment, never been acquired, and never pivoted. There are no contractors, no bots posing as contributors, and no remote "content partners." The index is hand-maintained.

What has changed is scale. As of Q1 2026, the index holds 12,438,602 torrents, growing by roughly 8,000 verified entries per day. In 2024 alone, the site processed 2.1 billion magnet fetches across 41 million unique visitors. It has been ranked #3 on TorrentFreak's "Best Torrent Sites 2024" list, and it has maintained 99.97% measured availability for the calendar year.

The original server closet is long gone. The current footprint spans four dedicated datacenters — Falkenstein and Strasbourg at Hetzner, Helsinki at Hetzner, and Beauharnois at OVH — but the operational philosophy is the same one Priit, Lena, and Diego wrote into the company's articles of association in 2011: verify before publish, fund the operation honestly, and treat the user as a peer rather than a product.
